Was having an IM chat with a good friend and colleague, when there was confusion on what was being said… got to love social media terminology. Should we all start embracing it? Is social terminology becoming so much a part of my life that it is working it self into my daily vocabulary? Is this the new txt shorthand? OMG LOL – help me!

Geee I wonder who you were talking with? I seriously was lost for a second!
I’m a student just trying to learn more about the social media business and I really enjoyed your article. Keep up the great work!
I agree the nomenclature gets very confusing particularly when a social network changes from core language adopted by its users. The “like” terminology for Facebook pages is used in conjunction with “like” ing all kinds of content across the Internet. Instead of a fan are you a “liker”. Seems the terminology was not well thought out to this level by the Facebook team. I stick to the word “fans” but the action remains “like” it. It makes as much sense as Xerox changing its adopted verb from ‘go xerox this’ to ‘go love this’.
